Workplace Skills Recognition programme
Be Workplace Learning:Ready (WPL:READY) and fast track skills certifications for your employees
The Workplace Skills Recognition (WPSR) programme aims to recognise enterprises, particularly SMEs, that have good foundation in workplace learning as well as the skills of their employees who are trained at the workplace.
Under the WPSR programme, enterprises that have established systems and processes for on-the-job training can now earn the “Workplace Learning:Ready (WPL:READY) Mark” issued by the National Centre of Excellence for Workplace Learning (NACE) led by Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP). To do so, enterprises will need to approach NACE to assess their readiness to meet the WPL:READY requirements before applying for the certification.
With the WPL:READY Mark, it will enable employers to fast-track skills assessment and help their workers gain formal Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) recognition of the skills developed at the workplace. This saves business downtime and training costs, as workers will not need to go for additional external training in order to obtain the WSQ skills certifications.
For a start, the WPSR is open to all enterprises in the Food Services and Retail sectors to address the immediate needs to fulfil the minimum training requirements under the Progressive Wage Model. SSG will progressively expand the WPSR prpgramme to more sectors.
Enterprises that need more support to prepare for the WPL:Ready Mark assessment can seek assistance from NACE through its training programmes and/or consultancy services. All these initiatives are subsidised by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG).
Enterprises that have established systems and processes to support on-the-job training can approach the National Centre of Excellence for Workplace Learning (NACE) to assess the readiness of your organisation to meet the Workplace Learning:Ready (WPL:READY) requirements and apply for the certification.
Attaining the WPL:READY Mark under the WPSR will enable you to fast track skills assessment and help your workers gain formal recognition of the skills they have developed at the workplace, without the need to go for external training.
For enterprises that require assistance, NACE is able to help you build workplace learning capabilities through various training programmes and consultancy services.
How does it work?
Step 1: Certify readiness for workplace learning by attaining the WPL:READY Mark
Attaining the WPL:READY Mark means that an enterprise has a structured workplace learning process and is practising it. To attain the WPL:READY Mark, enterprises will need to go through an assessment process conducted by NACESMEs and non-SMEs enjoy subsidies of 90% and 70% of the assessment fees respectively.
SMEs | Non-SMEs | |
---|---|---|
Assessment Fees (before applicable SSG subsidy & excluding prevailing GST) | $1,800 | $3,600 |
Assessment Fees (after applicable SSG subsidy & excluding prevailing GST) | $180 | $1,080 |
Step 2: Certify employees’ skills acquired at the workplace
Work with SSG’s appointed training partners to certify the skills of your employees through the Assessment-Only-Pathway (AOP) mode to attain relevant Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) certifications directly, without the need for further external training.
